1. TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
Championship Dates: Thursday 7 – Friday 10 February 2019

The championship is a co-sanctioned ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia (PGATA) and European Tour (ET)
event and will be played over 72 holes stroke play at the 13th Beach Golf Links.
The Men’s Championship will be played in conjunction with the Women’s Championship at 13th Beach on the same courses and same days. All rounds will be played in alternating men’s & women’s groups on the Beach & Creek Courses as follows:
▪ Thursday 7 February (Rd 1) Beach & Creek Courses (one round each course)
▪ Friday 8 February (Rd 2) Beach & Creek Courses (one round each course)
▪ Saturday 9 February (Rd 3) Beach Course
▪ Sunday 10 February (Rd 4) Beach Course
Two cuts will be made after rounds 2 and 3 (see note 6 below)

2. ENTRY FEE, PROCESS & CLOSING DATE
Entry fees for professional will be determined by each respective Tour. Amateur entry fees will be AUD $200.
European Tour Member entries will be managed via the European Tour.
PGA of Australia members MUST enter online via myPGA. All other professionals must enter online via the Non-Member entry page available online via the PGA website www.pga.org.au.
Note: Professional golfers who are members of both the PGATA and the ET must enter through both tours.
Amateur players must enter (and pay) via Golf Australia at www.vicopengolf.com/entries.
Entry Closing Date:
Professional entries for the Championships (inc. Qualifying) close at 5pm AEDT on Thursday 17 January 2019.
Amateur entries for the Championships (inc. Qualifying) close at 5pm AEDT on Thursday 17 January 2019. The Championship Committee reserves the right to accept late entries after that time under special circumstances.
Exemption Request Letters:
Players seeking exemption into the starting field are requested to submit a letter and their CV to Simon Brookhouse (simonb@golf.org.au) and Michelle Hui (michelleh@golf.org.au) prior to close of entries. 

3. FIELD COMPOSITION
The field of 156 male players will be determined as follows:
a) Any former winner of the Victorian Open played at 13th Beach Golf Links (2013 onwards)
b) Leading 60 available players from the 2019 European Tour Exemption Categories excluding categories 6 and 8.
c) 8 Amateurs as selected by Golf Australia
d) 8 Tournament Invitations
e) The leading 6 players from Final Qualifying
f) The remainder of the field will be filled by players from the 2019 PGA Tour of Australasia Tournament Exemption Categories

4. FINAL QUALIFYING
6 qualifying positions for Men and 3 for Women (9 total) will be available.
Final qualifying will be conduction by Golf Australia and played over 18 holes stroke play on Monday 4 February 2019 at the following venues:
▪ Curlewis GC - 1345 Portarlington Rd, Curlewis VIC 3222
▪ Portarlington GC - 130 Hood Rd, Portarlington VIC 3223
▪ Sanctuary Lakes GC - 70 Greg Norman Dr, Point Cook VIC 3030
Notes:
i. All women to play at Sanctuary Lakes GC. Men will be divided across all three venues.
ii. The number of positions available at each venue will be divided based on field size at each venue and will be confirmed once all players register on the day.
iii. Ties for last places at all qualifying venues will be decided by “sudden death” play-off as soon as practicable.

5. REGISTRATION
All competitors must register in person at the Player Admin Office at 13th Beach Golf Links as follows:
▪ Monday 4 February: 9.00am – 5:00pm
▪ Tuesday 5 February: 7.00am – 5.00pm
▪ Wednesday 5 February: 7.00am – 2.00pm
The Championship Committee reserves the right to waive this condition in special individual circumstances.
NOTE: Players who fail to meet the registration deadline and who have not contacted Tour staff for granting
of late registration may be removed from the tournament draw.

7. CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS & CUTS
All draws will be posted on the PGATA website (www.pga.org.au) or tournament website (www.vicopengolf.com) and inside the Player Admin noticeboard. Men’s & women’s groups will be alternated throughout all rounds of the championship.
156 male competitors will compete via two-tee starts on both the Beach & Creek courses for Rounds 1 & 2 with a mirror draw for Round 2. The draw for Rounds 1 & 2 will be available by 5.00pm on Tuesday 5 February.
36-Hole Tournament Cut
After round 2, the leading 65 professional players plus ties plus amateurs tying on the same score shall qualify to play the round 3. Draws for Round 3 will be seeded and available at approximately 7.30pm on Friday evening.
54-Hole Secondary Tournament Cut
A further cut will be made after round 3 for the leading 35 players plus ties (pros and amateurs inclusive) shall qualify to play round 4.
Note: Professionals that make the 36-hole cut but miss the 54-hole cut will be paid official money according to their finishing position at the completion of the third round. Draws for Round 4 will be re-seeded and available at approximately 6.30pm on Saturday evening.

8. COURSE PRACTICE TIMES
Official practice round times are as follows:
▪ Monday 4 February – Beach & Creek Courses – all day from 1st tee only
▪ Tuesday 5 February – Beach & Creek Courses – 1pm to 3pm from 1st and 10th tees
▪ Wednesday 6 February – Beach & Creek Courses – 1pm to 3pm from 1st and 10th tees
All bookings must be made through the 13th Beach pro shop on (03) 5254 2922 to secure a spot.
Notes: Practice opportunities will be made available to competing players in the week(s) leading up to the Championship to relieve course pressure during the tournament week. Players to contact 13th Beach to arrange.

9. PRACTICE AREAS
A practice fairway, two short games areas and two practice putting greens will be available.
Practice Fairway Length: Approx 280 metres (see Note 1 below)
The Practice Fairway will be in operation at 13th Beach during tournament week as follows:
Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday
2pm – 5pm 8am – 6pm 6.45am – 6pm 6.45am – 6pm
Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
6am – 7pm 6am – 7pm 6am – 7pm
1 hour before first tee time – last tee time
Note 1:
Given the length of the practice fairway, players are restricted to clubs within the 280m distance range.
Note 2:
Limited space is available on the practice fairway. Players finished their morning round must give priority to afternoon players before commencing practice. Preference is to be given to those players with approaching tee times and MUST be given to those players remaining in the tournament on the weekend. 
Note 3:
No practice chipping or pitching is permitted to the practice putting green in the front of the clubhouse.

10. YARDAGE BOOKS & PIN PLACEMENTS
Yardage Books, in metres and yards, will be available for purchase at the Player Admin office (Players) and Golf Australia office (Caddies) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Pin placements will be provided by the official starters on the 1st and 10th tees on all four days of the Championship. 

11. PRO-AMS – TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY
Two Pro-Ams will be played at 13th Beach Golf Links on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 February mornings.
Approximately 26 male professionals will be required each day for both Pro-Ams. A team will consist of 1 professional and 3 amateurs.
Play will commence via a shotgun start at 7.45am on both days. All players (including professionals) are required to register at least 30 mins prior to the start time with Golf Australia officials in the clubhouse foyer.
Professionals are to collect the scorecard, record scores and return card at the end of the round.
The competition played will be Tour Scramble. All players tee off then select the best tee shot on all hole. All 3 amateurs will then play their second shot from this position. If the selected tee shot is the professional’s, he/she will play from here, if not he will play from where his/her tee shot finished. After the second shots, each player continues and complete the ball with their own ball.
The net aggregate team score in relation to par will count at each hole (ie. all 4 scores in the team can count).
To contribute to a team score, a player must score a nett birdie or better. The worst score any player can have on a hole is a nett par. The team with the lowest nett aggregate in relation to par will win.
There will also be nearest to the pin and longest drive for the amateurs only.
All professionals competing in the Pro-Am are requested to attend the Presentation Lunch which will be held immediately following the completion of play from approximately 12.45pm.

12. CADDIES
All players MUST have a caddie for all rounds of the championship.
Pull buggies will be allowed on Thursday (Rd 1) and Friday (Rd 2) only. All caddies MUST carry the player’s
equipment on Saturday (Rd 3) and Sunday (Rd 4)

Caddie Bibs must be worn. Bibs will be distributed at the 1st and 10th tees by the walking scorer and collected at the completion of the round on the 9th and 18th greens. To avoid unnecessary spiking and wearing of the greens, caddies are NOT permitted to wear spiked or ripple soled shoes.
Additional items to note as follows:
▪ Registration: caddies will be required to register at the Golf Australia office from 7am–5pm on Monday & Tuesday to collect accreditation/car park pass and purchase yardage books if required.
▪ Carpark: allocated to the General Carpark (see item 14 for further details).
▪ Player’s Lounge: caddies will not be allowed to access the player’s lounge.
▪ Catering: food and beverages can be purchased from the clubhouse and tournament village.
▪ Rakes: to be placed outside of the bunkers parallel to the direction of play.
▪ Recommended Fee: $80 AUD per round. To be negotiated between player and caddie. 

14. CARPARKING
Players:
Players will have access to the Clubhouse Car Park designated by the car park pass provided which much be displayed on the rear vision mirror. Entry is via Tomara Drive upon entering the 13th Beach club gates. No additional car park passes will be allocated.
Caddies:
Caddies will be allocated one General Car Park pass upon registration with Golf Australia officials. Entry is via Lings Rd only off Barwon Heads Rd. Please note due to limited space, caddies will not be able to access clubhouse car parking.

15. PLAYER’S LOUNGE
A player’s lounge will be available to players on Monday to Sunday from 5:30am to 6:00pm.
Access to this area is restricted to player’s only with entry via player badge.
Please note that family/friends and/or caddies are not permitted entry to this area. Due to the costs associated with this operation, the complimentary provision of food is restricted to players only.
If players remove food from the Player Lounge for consumption by others, take away privileges will be revoked for all players. Golf Australia, the Tours and 13th Beach requests players to respect this service accordingly.
Meals will be provided at the times each day as follows:
▪ Breakfast: 5:30am to 10:30am
▪ Lunch: 11:00am – 2:30pm
▪ Snacks: 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Soft drinks/water will also be available via fridges in the Player’s Lounge courtesy of Coca-Cola Amatil.

16. ON COURSE DRINKS
Mount Franklin Water and Powerade will be provided to players, caddies and volunteers during the tournament week courtesy of appreciated event support from Coca-Cola Amatil.
However, given the volume of drinks required to service an event of this size, it is requested that the supply of Mount Franklin Water and Powerade only be utilised by players, caddies and volunteers. Drinks are not to be provided to family, friends and spectators following the play of any one group.

17. DRESS CODE & FOOTWEAR
In accordance with PGA regulations, long pants are required for all male players on championship days. Players are allowed to wear shorts on Practice and Pro-Am days. 13th Beach Golf Links has relaxed its dress regulations for the duration of the Championship and neat casual dress, will be allowed in the Clubhouse. Soft spikes may be worn in the Clubhouse.

19. SLOW PLAY
Slow Play procedures will be in accordance with PGATA Guidelines. Copies of this procedure will be available from the Player Admin Office.

23. TEMPORARY PRIVELEGES
All contestants will have access to the 13th Beach Golf Links from 4-10 February. Further access to the courses will be available in the weeks leading up to the tournament upon application to the club Pro-Shop.
Locker Facilities
Lockers will be available for player’s use.
Protection of Valuables and Equipment
Although every care will be taken by the clubhouse staff with your equipment, in the final analysis, protection of your equipment and valuables, including insurance, will be your own responsibility.
Club Storage Area
Club storage will be available within the clubhouse.
Towels
Players must provide their own towels and are not to be taken from the club locker rooms. 

28. ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
The following accommodation options are available for the 2019 ISPS Handa Vic Open:
Billet accommodation is available in the Ocean Grove/Barwon Heads area for the week of February 4-10. Any player requiring Billet accommodation is requested to contact:

29. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS, CADDIES & GUESTS
Visa Applications:
Australian visas for players must be applied for through the Australian government’s website. An Australian Temporary Activity (subclass 408) Visa will be required for participation. More information on this visa may be viewed here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/408-

Golf Clubs:
Australian Customs require all golf clubs and golf shoes entering from international destinations to be clean and
free of dirt or mud. To ensure an efficient entry into Australia, please ensure all golf equipment has been
thoroughly cleaned.

Travel Insurance:
It is highly recommended that International players purchase travel insurance prior to coming to Australia.
