彌賽亞 Messiah

這個詞的意思是「受膏者」（anointed）。在經文中，它常指一位偉大的君王或領袖，出自大衛王的後裔，其使命是重建以色列的榮耀。

東正教會認為彌賽亞將出自大衛家族，並在耶路撒冷執政為王、重建聖殿、恢復獻祭制度。而較為改革派的觀點則主張「彌賽亞時代」是一個將影響全世界的理想時代，屆時世界將邁向完美與和諧。
