1. Casting

A lot of folks will waive their hands and arms out from their body as a first move to start their downswing. By doing this, the training x we are using on our lead shoulders doesn’t move away from our chin, and we lose good separation.

2. Over-the-Top

Some players make the error of starting their downswing by pushing their heads forward and swinging their arms and shoulders out and over the ball. Once again, if you have this problem, the training x on your leading shoulder will not separate from the chin and you will lose power.

3. Getting “Stuck”

Typically, what accompanies the feeling of “getting stuck” in your downswing, are hips that open too much to start the downswing. This forces your body to make a big side bend. Once again, you won’t be able to gain the separation between your chin and lead shoulder that you need!

4. Body Stall or Flipping at the Ball

The last of the big four mistakes involving the lead shoulder is the body stall. This common error occurs when a golfer stops rotating his or her body after he or she hits the ball. Your hands will be forced to flip at the ball. But if you can instead just keep you lead shoulder rotating after impact with that x moving away from the chin, then you can fix this issue no problem!
