綁架的另一常用字為 kidnap ，讓我們來分辨這兩個字的差異

kidnap 通常是指要求贖金（ramson）的綁架。

abduct 則是用來表示拐帶、綁架、劫持某人，並隱藏起來的行為，如沒有監護權的父母偷偷帶走孩子或外星人綁架地球人；或是綁架婦女、孩童，脅迫其賣淫。
