15:15 Jesus is our best friend!
15:25 Ps 35:19, 69:4
16:7 Holy Spirit would not come until Jesus went back to Father.
16:8 Holy Spirit helps us understand what real truth is, what real justice is, and helps those who still don't believe in God realize the true love of God and be willing to make up with Him again. "When he comes, he'll expose the error of the godless world's view of sin, righteousness, and judgment: He'll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted."
16:14 Holy Spirit will take from Jesus and tell us about what He took from Jesus.
16:23 "In that day" means the day Jesus went back to heaven.
16:33 "in me" means "trusting me"
17:12 Ps 41:9
17:17 "Make them holy—consecrated—with the truth; Your word is consecrating truth." People become consecrated not through their behavior but through God's words.
18:5-6 "He said, "That's me." The soldiers recoiled, totally taken aback. Judas, his betrayer, stood out like a sore thumb (Be very noticeably different, usually a negative way; to be particularly obtrusive, conspicuous)." Jesus face was so serious and fearless, and his voice was so solemn that made the soldiers strumbling recoiled.
18:32 3:14; 8:28; 12:32
18:38 Pilate said, "What is truth?" Well, as I said, people in the world have no willings nor have guts to find what truth is. They simply are not interested in this issue apart from the wealth and fame in this world. Or they simply dare not face the fear of reaching their hands into an unknown space, grasping something they don't need in vain.
19:8 Why was Pilate scared? He firstly thought having Jesus whipped could ease Jews anger with Him, only to find their rage was even more flaming. This was definitely not a normal accusation, as Pilate thought to himself. That's why he was scared.
19:24 Ps 22:18
19:25 There were 4 women and 1 disciple under Jesus' cross: 1. Mary, Jesus' mother 2. Mary Magdalene 3. Mary, James' mother 4. Salome; as for the disciple: See 19:26
19:26 "The disciple He loves" might be Peter or John himself, the author of The Gospel of John. I think the disciple was John. (13:23, 18:15, 20:2, 24, 21:7, 20, 24)
19:36 Ps 34:20
20:4 John would like to "show off" a little...^^
20:5-7 Three times stating that the linen cloth and kerchief lying intact to prove that Jesus' body was never likely to be stolen.
20:29 Jesus said, "So, you believe because you've seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing." Praise the Lord! Praise Jesus!
21:15-17 Jesus asked Peter three times to follow Him. Maybe He did so to strengthen Peter's determination, to suggest him that he serve Jesus full-time, or to let him know how many hardships he would encounter in the future. See 21:18
Feed my lambs - Shepherd my sheep - Feed my sheep, may refer to the quantity of population Peter would shepherd later. "Feed" may be "to lecture; to preach"; "shepherd" may be "to be pastorate"
21:22 In fact, John was the only disciple of Jesus who didn't die in martyrdom, a good example of a real humble sevant!
