Our Climate is Changing and It is Going to Keep Changing

Climate Change

1. It’s getting hotter. Our climate is changing, so you’d better get used to it. It’s changing because of what we humans do and the gases we have put into the atmosphere. We have already put so much gas into the atmosphere, the climate will keep changing for a long, long time. Some of the changes may be good (at least in the short term) and some may be bad. But change is a near certainty

Read this article, and you will know a bunch of specific English translations of indigenous tearms or jargons by native speakers in Taiwan. Worth learning!

Whenever people talk about Keelung, they instantly connect their image to one of the Taiwan’s most renowned nightmarket, Miaokou Night Market (廟口夜市). Throngs of (一大群的) people, endless choices of Taiwanese food, seafood, and snacks are some of the best pronouns of Keelung (基隆最佳的代名詞).

The History of Miaokou Snacks

Hi, there. My name is Eunice, a 16-year-old junior high school girl from Taiwan, ROC. My phone number is 886-2-xxxxxxxx. I'm very honored to have such opportunity to be one of the candidates of exchnage students to the US this year, and I appretiate your hospitality very much to allow me also a member of home staying. It has always been my biggest dream  to study abroad. And at the moment when it is about to realize, I am excited and can't wait to meet you guys in the Big Apple City.

Let's take a look at my family first. There are altogether four of us, living happily and peacefully: Daddy is a soldier, allegiantly serving our country and protect us from enemy's invasion. He usually works till late. Mom is a diligent housewife, preparing delicious dishes for my brother and me every day. As for my little brother, a naughty kid in his sixth grade, he is the youngest in my family. I am active and energetic, sometimes a bit talkative. You can easily find me among my pals as long as you are drawn by a burst of laughter. Relatively small as my country might be, it is multicultural and kaleidoscopic with countless fascinating sceneries. Be sure to wait for me sharing all these with you by then!

I also have many hobbies such as arts and crafts, which enables me to let go my creativity as I wish and to attend many of contests and activities held by school or my community. I take arts and crafts as a best interaction between my classmates and my family. In the light of sporting excercise, soccer is my favorite. Not being very good at it, I still like this teamwork game and the way to goal by the seamless cooperation of my teammates. In addition, I would like to attend many dancing parties and skiing racing in the future for I've never had such chance expierencing even once in the past.

Schoolwork is one of the most important thing I've put much emphasis on since long. In Taiwan, we have to stay at school for intensive reviewing on the weekends for the coming Basic Proficiency Test this July and this is the reason why the PE classes, music, and my favorite arts and crafts are pathetically scarce. I can merely occasionally have my free time with my family for some window shopping, for instance, an eating-out, or simply home, accompanying my grandparents. So I am eager to experience the different students life in foreign countries. On knowing my exchange students trip, my classmates all feel very sad, not able to see me as often as we are. And I think I will miss them too.

Hi, there. My name is Wendy Chou. I'm a 16-year-old senior high school girl at Shu-lin High School, living in Ban-chiao. As a student, I lead a simple but busy life. I go to school every weekday. After school, I attend a drilling group organized by our room teacher in order to get better performance at the coming JCEE two years later. Some classmates and I study together till late evening. From Mondays to Fridays, the only thing I do is study, study, and study. Days are almost the same. In this group, I learn many good ways of studying, including making a good study plan, regular reviews and previews, how to take notes efficiently, along with the importance of a balanced and nutritious diet. After acquiring all these 'secret weapons' for successful learning, I am quite confident of all the major subjects, especially English, and hoping to enter my ideal college so as my family and teachers expect.

I've had a habit of reading English extracurricular readings since childhood. Most of my pals speak excellent English. It's just beyond description to how important English is to me. English almost takes all of my free time as I listen to English songs, read English romans, watch sitcoms, and movies. CNN is also another good choice to enhance my listening comprehension, where you can get a brief command over worldwide current breaking news and events. Thanks to all these edifying and interesting learning materials, learning English becomes much easier. My English is thus improved. English has turned itself into a craze for me as a staple in my daily life. On the weekends, in addition to preparing the tests for Monday and reading English, I spare most of the time staying with my friends, tutoring my siblings with their assignments, helping Mom do the dishes and laudries from time to time, singing karaoke with my classmates, and play video games at my study. Quite often I just lie on bed, watching the ceilings and doing nothing. I enjoy such ways of relaxation. It never makes me enervated.  I am quite satisfied with my life this way. I am very lucky to have all this, and I also would like to help others enjoy such happiness as I do by devoting myself to improving the communities after finishing my studies. May this happy days of all people go on and on forever.

The secret lies in his soul and is really my recent stirring of emotion! Who can read this and translate it at the reply section, shall be treated a vast meal by me as my scanty compliment:

대답하되 그가 죄인인지 내가 알지 못하나 한 가지 아는 것은 내가 소경으로 있다가 지금 보는 그것이니이다

The following propensities and aptness of mine are perhaps the incentives for me to be regarded eligible for the next term Captain office:

1. I am a person of moderate temperament. I handle things imperturbably and take a firm hold on myself. Dashing through nowhere around will never be my case in point. I seldom took offense over other's unfriendly remarks, that is, I seldom lose my temper and bridle at them. I listen up carefully, speak out smoothly, and flare up slowly. I will not express myself forwardly until I have to or am told to. Rather I would know what others' viewpoints may be, and then I will think of my next move.

Topic 1 What is language?

1.     Language is a ‘socially shared code that uses a conventional system of arbitrary symbols to represent ideas about the world that are meaningful to others who know the same code.’ N.W. Nelson (1998)

Topic 3 Five major domains of language within content, form, and use

Language that focuses on the immediate context is contextualized, and typically the highly contextualized content is concrete and supported by cues within the environment such as gestures, facial expressions. Otherwise, language with little reliance to the context for conveying content is decontextualized.

Read carefully the following important tips 101 about dating Reshell, something about her personal inclinations of do's and don'ts, directly from her narrating. It is simply a manual of H-game strategies if you do like to sucessfully ask her out some day:

1. "I would be very anxious about the coming of the final exam. My watch happens to be broken at the spur of the moment, which makes me feel sulky. What a gloomy day!"

Here is a little rhyme dedicated to our wonderful friends, Paul, alias Silent Paul, and his sultry girl, Linda, also known as Lady DaDa, to commemorate an unexpected uproar of his masculine taste for dominance against her amazing female recalcitrant rebel on Xmas Eve, the silent night. The original verses and melody were composed by an Austrian priest named Joseph Mohr in 1816, who then intended to serve this greatest Christmas carol for Midnight Mass accompanied with guitar. Simple score, but touching and peaceful with brilliant moment of truth. I've never expected this should turn into a ballad describing a part of Odysey of a sacred fight next to Trojan War, and I'm no Homer anyway, just managing to keep some daily chores depictively and frankly. lol

Hope our Paul the Silent and Linda the Lady would so be resting themselves in peace after reading my rearranged minute phrases for them. As a matter of fact, there is nothing greater than love and forgiveness, is there? Think of poor Scrooge, and we will know how lucky we are. And by the way, dear all, the valiant Round Table Knights, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

In my opinion, the Internet may be one of the greatest inventions in the 20th century, which helps connect the whole world into a closely related unity. With its massive, enormous, so as to be infinite data base of almost every string of human knowledge and thoughts, from tiny bacteria to the giddy universe, one can acquire the information they need at lightening speed, with just a few simple buttons on the keyboards or the 'cyber mice'. More than that, one can download as many exciting free games on line, which can be so abounding that we may not be finishing even a little part of the games during our entire lives.

I personally didn't like computers before, for there are so many quirky codes and informatic commands to operating such a stubborn calculator. Besides, I need not to look onto so many documents or recordings to make my junior high school papers. A local library will do just well. But since this summer when I graduated from junior high, I have gradually experienced the amazing power and charm the Internet has to offer. All I have to do when I am curious about any kind of things, no matter if it is happening on earth, I don't bother to dig in the piles of books in the bookstores or libraries. Booting my computer up, googling what I would like to find, and printing, then I get a nice briefing, without even stepping out of my room!

If there should be a person I admire most, it must be a "he" with many talents. First, why must it be a "he"? In a ralatively conservative society like ours in Taiwan, girls have too many no-gos and even taboos for them to justify themselves to be as agile as boys. When they do, they would be considered to upstage the boys, which is usually not accepted open-mindedly in our coulture.

Besides, he is gentle and courteous, not like those chaps who know nothing but holding a 24-hour sit-in for some ridiculous political reasons, blockading the whole main traffic artery all the time. He must be a person of erudition, which refers to be adept at multiple catagories to present a wholesome and profound aspect of life. (After all, I am an enthusiast of humanism.) Language, arts (especially instrumental playing, such as piano), sports (especially golf and martial arts), logical deductive thinking, and skills of negotiation are the prime "five elements" for me to be a qualified - qulified for being worthwhile taking a trip around the journey in this life - humble human being, who dares tell others how wonderful and elaborted our cosmics might be. Last but not least, he also has an open heart; a tender mind eager to reach for his true love in his life, and he never compromises on it! How valiant a man to pursue for his true love! Only when people are surrounded by love could people understand to love. And only love is the very incentive for humans to exist in the world from generations to generations.

I used to go hiking on Woo-fon Mountain with my parents and my brother on weekends, and I liked the family gathering this way very much. Since having been in the third year of senior high, I was reluctant  but had to quit this activity which was meaningful to me. I still remembered some of the beautiful sceneries there, the birds tweeting, the fresh air, and, what the most unforgettable was, a tree on the top of the mountain.

You can easily spot the tree even when you are on the half of the meandering mountain paths. It looks so robust, firmly rooted on the ground next to an antique pavilion, like a faithful soldier on the post, guarding for his foster. It also reminds me of my dear old grandpa, who was ernest and determined, always giving not only me but my brother a strong sense of security and warmth. Everytime when I felt frustrated, I would soon get over as soon as I thought of my grandpa. And the tree, waiting for me every weekend, seemingly smiling at me and ready to give me a hug, was exactly the embodiment of my grandpa's kindness. Though I could not visit him every week, I might at least go to the tree more often.

The long-governing for over 64 years Japanese Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has eventually defeated by his opposite rival --- the Democratic Party (DP) earlier in August this year. The shock lies not in the alternation of the two dominant major parties though rarely seen in the Japanese political environment yet the former was beated by how large a margin determined by all the Japanese constituencies ---  an announcement of the decadence of a once glowing political behemoth of Showa Golden Age.

As we all know, a political party which takes office in the government, fixed and fest, is not likely to be shaken easily by the opponents. The long period of managing people and local affairs not only brings about trust of his voters but arise a drift of momentum of inertia of politics, which causes people relatively to be willing to stay put in the existing political ambiance, no matter how stringent the grilling will be from the lefty reactionary, which is obviously not auspicious for DP. Yet DP has outright lead from the grappling this time, thorough and thorough. What strength instilled could overthrow such vast stability? Why has the ostensible political serenity no longer sustained? The article undoubtedly has revealed all in details compiled as followed:

Changes are not always satisfactory, yet sometimes they are omens to indicate progress and determination. Having being a high school student for only two weeks, I found myself somehow perplexed and even vexed, for not doing well in all the subjects to a degree, but the stalement and the sluggishness I still remained, which would humiliate the solemn outfit of black and white as well as the valiant denominator of this historical pristine campus.

Changes, are what I need desperately to improve my curent impassive, lukewarm situation of learning. To keep in path with the peers and the basical standards from instructors of most subjects - well, English is perhaps the one to be in the maintainance pit in no time - I need to make the most of my free time and, what is crucial and essential, a detailed schedule of daily arrangement.
According to personal experience from a queue of my good friends, also best model students in my junior high shool, utilizing some study skills will make you a better manager of your time. For example, they have got considerable help simply by planning well. Figure out what will take the most time; probably the test will need more study time than the quiz, and a long report might take more time than a short paper. Setting aside suitable amounts of time will give you a sense of control. Find a quiet place to work, and don’t allow any interference from your friends, roommates, or TV.
